Makes Me Happy Monday: Linky Love (number 9)

Sharing a little linky love from around the web.

As a girl mom, this blog post by Jen Wilkin piqued my interest. Great points: On Daughters and Dating: How To Intimidate Suitors. My favorite part: "Instead of intimidating all your daughter’s potential suitors, raise a daughter who intimidates them just fine on her own. Because, you know what’s intimidating? Strength and dignity. Deep faith. Self-assuredness. Wisdom. Kindness. Humility. Industriousness. Those are the bricks that build the wall that withstands the advances of old Slouchy-Pants, whether you ever show up with your Winchester locked and loaded or not. The unsuitable suitor finds nothing more terrifying than a woman who knows her worth to God and to her family."

My latest addiction? The Invisibilia podcast. Fascinating topics, especially The Secret History of Thoughts.

Mom Hides the King's Hawaiian Rolls is one of the cutest commercials I've seen in a long time. I even laughed out loud.

Great teaching on how to distinguish between Promises, Principles, Proverbs and Prophecies...because not every biblical promise is a promise for today.

Highly encouraged by this blog post by John Piper: The Eighth Decade of Life and the Ultimate Purpose of God

Heartbreaking and sweet all at once: Video of father singing ‘Blackbird’ to dying son following wife’s death after childbirth goes viral

This post was just what my weary momma heart needed. God has given us as mothers, the ability and call to organize and lead our home team to become a unit together–to live fully into our potentials.

Think this pin will be my next home project. I love quotes and a whole wall of them sounds quite lovely.

And to wrap things up, here's a post from the vaults: Surprises Sometime Come In Bundles of Pink

Did you know it's Housewife's Day? No, not those housewives! Apparently, November 3 is the day to honor stay-at-home moms. I've been one so I know how hard it is. Hats off to all the stay-at-home moms of the world.

It's Monday. Time to work it!!

Just discovered that Starbucks has a secret menu. It's on now. The Nutella looks yummy. (In fact, there's a whole website dedicated to all things secret about Starbucks.)

Been following the blog of Sarah Danaher, a D.C.-based photographer for a few years now. She gets married this week and shared her engagement story a while back. I laughed, rejoiced with her and was close to tears. Such a sweet and God-honoring post.

How To Talk to Little Girls: As a new mom to a daughter, I found this read very insightful.  And it's actually great advice for anyone dealing with little girls: "engage them about something other than their physical appearance."

Stumbled upon this site called Advanced Style where the blogger takes pics of stylish older people he crosses paths with in the streets. So fun to view

Lessons Learned from an 80 Year Old

This weekend I joined the boys for a trip to Sky Zone. It's one of their favorite places. The biggest boy had the most fun. Brought such a smile to my face. Click this link to see the video if it doesn't appear below.

Remember someone is always watching and listening by Sally Clarkson: such a great reminder that we can talk all we want but it's really what our lives are saying that matter the most. Children most certainly learn what they live and see.

Even the smallest detail by Genna Heikka: "But God cares about the little things too. He cares about the details, and he doesn’t want us to hold back from talking to Him just because we think our requests aren’t important enough, or because we might feel selfish for asking."

As a boy mom, this post "on dating" struck a chord with me. Lots of men don't know to treat women simply because they were not taught. The author says she takes her boys on dates starting at the age of five so they'll know how to behave on a date and how to treat women. Lots of men could have used a mom like this!

Write the Back Cover of Your Life by Jon Acuff. Makes me wonder if how I want to live and be remembered is lining up with how I'm actually living. What would the back cover of your life say?

7 Things You Need When You're Overwhelmed and Can't Keep Up by Ann Voskamp. Her words gave me life this past week:  "Your whole life can feel like you are running for your very life, like you are trying to out run a tsunami of stress. ...the goodness and mercy of God isn’t just following after me placidly. The goodness and mercy of God pursues after me passionately." I'll be feasting on this one for a good little while.
